I. Listening to the "Separated Parts"

"In the past, the other recordings forced us to decipher and distinguish the right hand and left hand. This was a difficult task when one was unfamiliar with the parts. By hearing the left hand and then hands together tracks, I could distinctly hear the role of the left hand which gave us a firmer grip of both parts."- Non-musician parent, child age 9 in Volume 2.

"Hearing the left hand part gave us a better understanding of balance and blend with which one is melody and which one is accompaniment. As well, which one is stronger versus which one is in the background." - Non-musician parent, child age 6 in Volume 1.

"There is a tendency to over focus on right hand and not so much the left hand. This new CD made it easier to move to hands together immediately." - Non-musician parent, child age 9 in Volume 2.

II. Parent Reaction to the "Separated Parts" CD

"It seemed like less of a struggle this time to learn the pieces hands together. The "separated parts" CD made it easier. My child was much more willing to listen to this CD and the commitment helped us get more out of our practices." - Musician parent, child age 10 in Volume 2.

"As a non-musician parent, hearing the separated parts helps me to recognize whether or not my child is playing the part accurately. I don't always know what the left hand should be playing at this stage of Volume 2." - Non-musician parent, child age 10 in Volume 2.

"For practicing purposes, I can better understand the use of the CD as a learning tool at home. With the other CD, I just couldn't see the purpose of it, since it was more useful after my child had learned the pieces hands together. My child could then play the piece with the CD. The "separated parts" CD is more beneficial as a practice tool." - Non-musician parent, child age 9 in Volume 2.

Even for parents, hearing the "separated parts" made it easier for me to know what the part was supposed to sound like. I could help my child more effectively." - Non-musician parent, child age 9 in Volume 2.

"This "separated parts" CD was great for solving problems at home. I didn't have to wait until the next lesson to resolve questions and even disputes." - Non-musician parent, child age 6 in Volume 1.
